Kids Fishing Derby

For the past 24 years, the Optimist Club of Collingwood has initiated and sponsored a fish derby for the youth of the area.  The event takes place at Shipyard Park near the boat launching station, on the last Saturday of June (* see Calendar of Events for exact date).

Kids fish and compete for trophies in various categories and age groups:

• The Biggest Fish
• The Smallest Fish
• The Ugliest Fish

They enter the casting contest, after mastering the technique, for trophies.

All children are treated to barbequed hot dogs and pop.

Over the past 3 years, partnering with the Georgian Triangle Anglers Association, the Optimist Club of Collingwood have been able to give each angler a new rod/reel and lure set!

It is a great 1/2 day of fun and fishing that kids look forward to as an indication that school is over for the year.

Free to all kids!

Notes:

• Kids free admission includes hot dogs and soda
• Please bring your fishing gear, if you don't have any there will be fishing gear available
• Parents do not need to have a fishing license for children to participate
