Optimist Club and OPP deliver the D.A.R.E. Program to area schools

Since 1998 the Collingwood Optimist Club has been sponsoring the D.A.R.E. Program in area schools directed at grade 4-6 students who choose to become involved with the program. Each program is conducted weekly over a 2 month period and students receive certificates and T-shirts in the graduation program for each session. There are about 12 programs a year with an average of 25 students. This has been considered a very important program to provide drug and alcohol education that directs the students away from the pressures they receive to take part in drugs and alcohol.
